The way to enjoy your career teaching science? Create courses you would want to take!

My first years I spent teaching freshmen biology to students who were forced to take the course. By my 3rd year teaching, I realized I could create a course that students could CHOOSE to take, leading to much more enjoyment and learning by all. I developed Forensic Science as an elective course. It grew to 3 sections, so most of my day was spent creating curriculum for students who WANTED to learn from me.

I’m a professionally licensed Biology teacher (grades 9-12) in the state of Massachusetts. I have been teaching science for 13 years at the high school level. I have taught many different science classes such as forensic science, anatomy & physiology, chemistry, environmental science and biology. I love creating new lessons and activities.
